I am in official holiday countdown mode ! Which means I am struggling to do anything at work and I have already packed and then realised still need half the stuff that I have put in the case before I go. ( this happens every time I go on holiday , I never learn ).
On the 16th December myself and my husband will be taking our third trip of the year. We are going to Torremolinos , Spain. Our first and second trips were a total disaster. The first was in feb of this year, also to Spain but a smaller port further south along the coast towards Gibraltar called Duquesa . It rained the entire time , mixed with a few rolls of thunder and flashes of lightening , made for a pretty depressing long weekend.
We decided to put that behind us and play it safe and stay in the UK for our next holiday. We had heard good things about Centre Parcs from friends and family and the forest setting described on the website as peaceful and tranquil with a few activity’s thrown in sounded right up our street. So my husband booked a long weekend for us in early September of this year as a birthday present for me. Yet again total disaster ! It was torrential rain from the moment we got in the car to make the 2 hour drive to the moment we left !
Anyway so after that total fiasco we then decided to give Spain another try ! We deided this time to go all inclusive ( something we have never done before ). We picked a hotel that is closer to Malaga airport than where we usually stay , and booked return transfers so that everything was booked and paid for in advance. We picked a town called Torremolinos on the Costa Del Sol and decided on a hotel called Marconfort Beach Club on the sea front. We found a good deal on Expedia for a long weekend , and flying with easy Jet from our local airport ( only 15mins away). So we booked it for the 16th-19th December. Since booking the deal it has become a bit of an obsession with me and my husband to constantly check the weather for that week in December as we are so desperate for a decent holiday with a bit of sunshine !
There is a few things to do in the area , with a local sea life centre , amusement park and unlimited chiringitos ( Spaninsh Beach Bars ) within walking distance or a 10 min drive we should have enough to keep us busy.
I will try to keep you updated on each day of our trip and how the dreaded weather turns out !!!! And hopefully I can get some ideas of traditional Spanish dishes that I can try out when I get back .
